WILDERNESS ROPE RESCUE TRAINING

As wilderness sports once thought of as extreme become mainstream, wilderness based technical rope rescue has become more frequent, and hell of allot more complex. Safely responding to an incident requires an advanced skillset that’s far exceeds any urban or industrial based rescue curriculum. Today, Wilderness Rescue respond to a wide variety of unique challenges in some of the most dangerous environments imaginable, having the knowledge, equipment and abilities to safely use rope tactics provides teams with an added level of safety, and done right, the confidence, skills and competency to handle a host of high risk rescue operations.

“GRAVITY IS A HARD TEACHER, AND IN A HIGH RISK VERTICAL ENVIRONMENT,
MOST LESSONS ARE ONLY TAUGHT ONCE”.

NOTE: We are not career fire rescue trainers looking to make a profit in any venue that we can. Like you, we are Search & Rescue professional who volunteer our time, money and resources to help others in need. We provide both open enrollment and on-site training programs which are tailored to meet the specific needs and time schedules of Search & Rescue organizations. We will provide any 100% volunteer public service rescue team, with a substantial training and equipment discount.

Low & Steep Angle Rescue

Not every SAR team has the terrain to justify the expense of training and equipping a high angle rescue team. However, almost every SAR team responds to emergencies on step uneven terrain or the potential to use technical rope skills, during a motor vehicle accident on steep roadside embankments. The costs of our Low & Steep Angle rescue course are based on the number of required instructors, the cost of handouts and travel expenses for our team. The two day 20hr course itself, is free of charge to any 100% volunteer rescue team.

Private Training

Private training may be the most effective way to keep your team proficient and compliant, while meeting your scheduling needs. It also allows us to design a program to meet your site-specific needs while customizing it to the skills level of your personnel. Our private training programs are conducted at your location and under your time schedule. To help with scheduling a volunteer team and maximizing team participation, our wilderness courses can be split into two separate weekends.

Equipment

Selecting equipment for wilderness based technical rope rescue can feel like an overwhelming task. Teams must consider frequency of use, training that maintains proficiency, and compatibility with the techniques your team deploys. Also important, rescue teams are morally and legally responsible to inspect and maintain their equipment at set intervals. Proper documentation also assists in budgeting, tracking, maintenance, and retirement schedules. Black Dragon can work with your organization to help you select the most appropriate equipment setup for your unique situation.

Black Dragon Rescue will offer a substantial training and equipment discount to any volunteer non- profit public service organization. Please contact us at for more information.
